I have been working on this for a few months and I will probably be refining it for the rest of my life, but this is my basic teaching philosphy and ideals.  Hopefully it will give you an idea of what I work for as a teacher and what you can expect as a parent and student.

What is the most important thing you’d like your students to walk away with after 1 year or 10 years of lessons?

The ability to play for themselves and to enjoy music, no matter what instrument they 'specialize' in.

What makes you different from other teachers?

I have an extensive lending library, and well-developed lab with units on theory, ET, composition, music history

What goals do you have for your students?

I want students to be able to read notes and rhythms and be able to work out things on their own.  I want them to be able to enjoy playing music and have the tools to do the problem solving without me.

Are there certain methods or books you use to get your students to their goals?

I prefer to use Pianimals to begin, Piano Adventures for elementary through early intermediate and then the Masterwork classics books as my staples.  I am branching out to other repertoire for my intermediate and early advanced students.

How do you motivate your students?

      yearly practice incentives

      games

            Concertos

What expectations do you have for your students?

I want students to practice, pay attention and do their best regarding of 'talent' level

What is the role of the parent in piano lessons?

I want parents to be involved. Students get frustrated and so do I when parents give contradictory advice, but I love to hear their insight and ideas.  Parents should also be aware that there is the cost of music involved. It's not just the tuition

What kind of teaching environment or atmosphere do you maintain in your studio?

First of all, I am a professional.  This is not 'play money' to me and I'm not planning on quitting any time soon.  I have a regular schedule and I try to avoid as many distractions and cancellations as possible.  I also like to have fun and I want to students to enjoy coming here and not be afraid even when they have had a bad practice week.
